One simple question (part 3): “What’s in the way?”

Questions — I love them. They help me figure stuff out. They increase my understanding of myself, others, and the circumstances of life. They keep me taking action in my life where I need it most.  

Questions are good and helpful.

Here’s what we’ve looked at so far:

Question #1: What’s going on? (Great question when you notice or experience a thought/feeling you have.)

Question #2: What do I want? (Great question when you want some clarity, direction, or vision for your life.)

And now…

Question #3: What’s in the way?

The Secret: 

Paying attention to your own life is the secret to creating, loving, and enjoying the one you’ve got.

We all have areas of our lives that could be a little better. Better is what we’re moving toward. Not perfect. Better.

It’s good to have a look at those specific things keeping you from experiencing the life you love and enjoy…consistently.

To look at the circumstances in your life and examine what you think, feel, and do in those circumstances.

To explore the obstacles keeping you from what you know is better.

To give them a name, and perhaps identify where they’re coming from. 

The Obstacles:

It could be false beliefs

Might be feelings that don’t work for you or the relationships you’re in. 

It’s possible you’ll discover things from your past that hold you back in the present. 

This is a good time to explore and identify what those are.

Look at the whole of your life, the life you’re experiencing right now.

Consider what’s not working.

It’s time to ask the question,“What’s getting in the way?”

  • People-Pleasing
  • Confusion
  • Procrastination

How about…

  • Self-Doubt
  • Imperfection
  • Self-Pity
  • The Victim Mentality

  • Defensiveness
  • Avoidance
  • Judgement of Others
  • Control of Others
  • Selfishness

What do see that’s getting in the way today?

You’re becoming the watcher of your own mind and life. Stay fascinated. Stay curious. 

Keep creating the life you love and enjoy, consistently.

  1. Examine
  2. Create
  3. Enjoy
  4. Repeat

Remember, everything you want to do…it’s totally possible!
